If any of you lack Wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. James 1:5
Wisdom is a God-
given gift, the fruit of an energetic search. Its starting point is through the creator of all things, and his revealed word. Out source of knowledge and understanding is what wisdom guarantees us. In essence, it is a gift.
We do not develop the full essence of wisdom at once. Some people have more insight than discretion; others have more knowledge than common sense.
Discretion is discernment, the ability to tell right from wrong. It enables the believer to detect evil motives in men and women. With practice it helps us evaluate courses of action and consequences. For some, it is a gift, and for others it is developed by using God's truth to make wise choices day by day. We must disciple ourselves in order to have discretion. And, we can pray for all aspects of wisdom and take the steps to develop them in our lives.
Many may deem the pathway to wisdom to be strenuous. But when we are on this path, we discover that true wisdom belongs to the almighty creator and we cannot create it through our own efforts. Because this desired characteristic is hidden from the rebellious and the foolish, according to the "word." It is evident that practical discernment begins with respect for a higher being. So, once that respect is expressed, the results of increased ability to make ethical decisions are developed.
This thing called wisdom is gained through a constant process of growth through circumstances that build character. On a religious stand point, we must first trust and honor God. Second, realize that the bible reveals
God's wisdom to us, if you believe. Third, make a lifelong series of right choices. And fourth, realize that mistaken choices are lessons to aid you in gaining wisdom and redeveloping your faith.
So when Christians gripe about what is wrong in their life or being in the dark, praying to receive answers to repetitive prayers, I say to them, center your goals.
We can ask for God's wisdom to guide our choices. God is willing to give us this wisdom, but we will be unable to receive it if our goals are self-centered instead of God-centered.
Be blessed!!!!!
