This Year the 2008 BET Awards kept viewers at the edge of their seats with their performances. Normally a show starts off hype and dwindle down from there, but not this year with a semi-lazy performance by Usher.
USHER
Usher's performance of "Love in the Club" left some viewers wanting a little more. But I suppose when you are in a show with Chris Brown and Neyo and the Jabawockeez, you will look like you are moving in slow motion. However, the performance was enjoyable for a 4 year hiatus.
YOUNG JEEZY Ft. KANYE WEST
This was one of the hottest songs of this year. Jeezy came out flowing...then...Kayne got on stage and got to using a voice box. Can these rappers please put that shit up now. PLEASE! He messed the entire performance up. Jeezy you should have went solo. However, we love Kayne, but just not computerized in this b&tch!
KEISHA COLE
Listen up, Keisha Cole is a bad chick. I love her voice, her performance was nice, not the best, but nice. However, I have two request; 1. Her managers need to take her to the gym so that she can run as she sings so she does not get out of breath when she's dancing on stage, and 2. THAT SHE GET HER DAMN MOMMA! Keshia...GET CHO MOMMA DAWG!!! HOLLLLLLLLLLAH! MAN DOWN! I know ya'll saw when her mother said that. I know you did.
ALICIA KEYS
Alica Keys performed, "Teenage Love Affair," in some tight black jeans. First, HAVE ya'll been sleeping on how thick she was? Anyway...She had one of the best performances of the night. Reuniting a chubby SWV and well aged EnVogue and TLC. She wrecked it!!!!! But was it just me, or did T-Boz look unenthused?
T-PAIN...aka T-WAYNE
Personally,I think he should have opened the show. His performance was BANANAS. Dude hyped the crowd looking like a black version of Charlie and Chocolate Factory. He captivate the audience with his creativity and sound. Although he used that DAMN voice box. It suited him. And is he on everybody's single? I believe he was nominated for best collaboration 5 times. That's something serious.
CHRIS BROWN
Awh, Young Chris Breezy! Okay...Chris Brown upstaged Usher, let's just be honest and to add insult to injury he brought that dancing robot Ciara with him and she did this little back drop to his foot and he kicked her lanky ass back up! You didn't know which one to watch. They were a phenomenon!!!!
NEYO
Yo, Neyo funny looking ass did his thing. His choreography was on point, his dancers were on point, his stage presence was on point! PLAYA!??? You could not ask for a better show. Then, when he brought out the winners of last season's America's Best Dance Crew, the JABABWOCKEEZ, that made Neyo an official team player.
MARVIN SAPP
Marvin Sapp took people to church, even the thugs were praising. He didn't need no synthesizer here. This man has chops for ya. But, let me just say D.L. Hughley needs a pay cut for calling that man Warren Sapp. I was like...who the hell is that, Marvin's brother?
AL GREEN
Reverend Al Green get's the official PLAYA of the year award. He had the crowd going down memory lane thinking about Sunday dinners and family BBQs at Big Momma's house. And, let's not forget that two step he did...hey now! Anthony Hamilton, Jill Scott, and THE Maxwell did their thing too....(his tribute)
RHIANNA
Rhianna has a nice enough voice that she didn't need all the hoopla of dancers and exaggerated sets to keep the audience attention. She was great all on her own. But doesn't she look like she was a second away from being deformed? Pretty girl, but something is going on in that forehead and eye area.
NELLY
I like Nelly, but unfortunately, I barely remember his performance. However, here is a photo for your viewing pleasure.
LIL WAYNE
Was the perfect closer for the show. He started the show off with "Got Money" then closed with "A Millie" and I heard my favorite line "what's a goon to a goblin." Now, he was not the best performance of the night, but he was definately well worth the watch.
